Inishfree School Of Irish Dance, NY

The Inishfree School of Irish Dancing was established in 1985 and is under the direction of World Champion dancer, Sean Reagan, ADCRG, who has been teaching for over 25 years.  The goal of the school is the promotion of Irish Culture, the enjoyment of the art of dance and for some, the perfection of dance for competition.

The school was started by the Reagan family of Long Island, NY. As members of the family moved about, the school expanded with Kevin Reagan in Connecticut and Neil Reagan in Texas, New Orleans and Mexico.  In 2007 one of Sean's former students and a top champion dancers Meghan Allen obtained her TCRG certification and started Inishfree MA in Massachussetts.  In New York, Sean is joined by Co-instructors (and former students) Caitlin Kelly who obtained her TCRG in 2011, Kellyanne Farrell who obtained herTCRG in 2012, and Rory Beglane who obtained his TCRG in 2020.

Inishfree NY has many locations on Long Island: Massapequa, Port Jefferson, Selden, Shoreham/Wading River, Sayville, as well as The Bronx and Rockland County.

The dancers perform for fun and entertainment.  These performances contribute to a scholarship fund for our graduating Seniors and to a travel fund for qualified dancers attending major dance Championships that are held throughout the United States, Canada, Scotland, England, and of course, Ireland.

Inishfree is regarded one of the top schools in the US with three of our dancers having attained 1st place at the World Championships!  Inishfree dancers have won 1st place in every major international competition including; The Great Britains, the All Irelands, the British Nationals and the All Scotland Championships. Our dancers are consistently ranked as top Regional (Oireachtas) and North American Champions.  In February, Inishfree dancers travel to Killarney, Ireland to compete in the All Irelands Championships. In April, our dancers compete in the World Championships which are usually held in Ireland, but have also ventured out twice Scotland and in 2009 finally made it across the pond to Philadelphia, USA.  In July, dancers are flown to locations all over North America to compete in the North American Championships.

We look forward to continued success at all of these major competitions and local competitions (feisanna) as well throughout the year.

The Inishfree School sponsors our own Feis in Massapequa, NY each year in February.  Over 1000 dancers attend from Long Island, the Tri-state area and other locations in the United States and Canada.
