2012 Feis information:

Non Championship Competitions: 

PLEASE NOTE: Solo costumes are not permitted in Beginner and Advanced Beginner categories. Class costumes, or skirts and blouses only.

BEGINNER – Start time TBA.  A beginner is a competitor who has not taken Irish dancing lessons from a registered teacher prior to September -  1st of previous year.   Dancer  must move into Advanced Beginner the following year.   2 steps, 2 at a time. Reel/Slip Jig tempo - 118

ADVANCED BEGINNER  - Start time TBA.  An Advanced beginner who wins 1st, 2nd, or 3^rd place will advance to the Novice category in that particular dance the following year.    2 steps, 2 at a time.    Reel/Slip Jig tempo - 118, Hardshoe Jig tempo - 92, Hornpipe tempo – 138.

NOVICE – Start time TBA.  A Novice is a dancer who has previously won a 1^st in Advanced Beginner.  A Novice who wins a 1^st place will advance to the Prizewinner category in that particular dance the next year.  2 steps, 2 dancers at a time.   Hardshoe Jig tempo – 92 or 73, Hornpipe tempo – 138 or 113.

PRIZEWINNER – Start time TBA.  A competitor who does not qualify as a Beginner, Advanced Beginner, or as a

Novice.

  2 steps, 2 dancers at a time.  Hardshoe Jig tempo - 92 or 73, Hornpipe tempo – 138 or 113.

SPECIAL NEEDS COMPETITION # 385 – Open to all ages.

MUSIC COMPETITION – Play one choice of air/traditional tune.  Entry fee: $ 10.00

Traditional Set :  Open to all competitors except Open Championships

Championship Competitions:

Preliminary and Open Championships Start time TBA.  No changes to step combinations will be accepted without a $10 per change fee.

Treble Reel Competition for Charity– Open to Preliminary and Open Championship Dancers.  Entry Fee $10.00

  Middle Atlantic Region Rule effective 1/1/08:

15. Preliminary Championships are open to those who, at any NAFC recognized Feis:
          a) Have won 1st place in both an open/prizewinner light and heavy shoe competition, and
          b) Have never won 1st, 2nd or 3rd in Open Championship. A dancer who wins three first place awards in one calendar year will move on to Open Championship the following year, or as soon as the third win is achieved, in any age category, in the following years. Only in the case of back-to-back Feiseanna (successive days), in which case the second win will not change the dancer’s status for the third Feis. A dancer is required to perform a light shoe dance (reel or slip jig for ladies and reel only for men), and a hard shoe dance. A Feis can opt to offer either a) a set dance or b) a jig/hornpipe.

• Limited to first 1000 entries

• Closing date for entries - 2/10/12.  All Entries registered after this date must include a $10.00 Late fee per family.  

• No telephone entries, and no entries accepted on the day of the feis. 

• No entries accepted after 2/18/12 or whenever we reached 1000.  Enter early! 

• Competitors Cards are emailed to the address used on FeisWeb.  Competitors are highly encouraged to print their number on card stock prior to attending. For those who cannot, competitor cards may be picked up at the venue.

• No Food or drink permitted in the auditorium or gym -venue rules violators will be asked to leave premises.

• By submitting an entry, parents or legal guardians agree to abide by Feis rules.

• The Feis Committee Reserves the right to cancel, combine or split any competition.

Entry Fees:

Solos/music - $10 per competition, marks included

Treble Reel - $10 (proceeds donated to charity)

Traditional Set - $10

Preliminary - $30

Open Champion - $35 

Championship change fee - $10

The maximum fee per family is $100 plus facility fee and any applicable late or change fees. 

Facility Fee - $15

There will be no refund of any entry fees.

FROM NEW YORK:  Take LIE (495) east to exit 44 south, Route 135 Seaford.  Take Route 135 to Southern State Pkwy East.  Southern State Pkwy East to Exit 32S, Route 110 Amityville.  Take Route 110 south (approx. 2mi.) to the first light after you go under the railroad trestle, Oak St., make a right.  Go straight for three traffic lights make a left onto Carman Mill Road.  Parking is available on both sides of the school.

FROM EASTERN LONG ISLAND: Take Southern State Pkwy to exit 32S, Route 110, Amityville, and then follow directions above.
